Truman Elliott Rhodes, Jr.

Truman Elliott Rhodes, Jr., 77, died Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at Hospice Savannah, Inc. He was born in Savannah, son of Truman Elliott Rhodes and Esther Freeman Rhodes. A graduate of Savannah High School, Mr. Rhodes was called into the United States Navy to serve on active duty during the Berlin Crisis. After the return to the United States, he worked for Wilmington Cabinet Company and later joined Grumman and ultimately retired from Gulfstream Aerospace after 22 years of service. He was a member of Bible Baptist Church where he served on the Board of Trustees and Board of Deacons. He also served as an usher, member of the Masters Class and the Wilmington Island Grays.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Dorothy Lindsey Rhodes of Savannah; daughter, Melissa Rhodes Bond (Stan) of Savannah; son, Michael E. Rhodes (Kay) of Savannah; sister, Esther Rhodes Johansen (Thor) of Savannah; grandchildren, Sonny and Sarah Bond and Jesse and Kim Sullivan all of Savannah; five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday, November 7, 2014 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel.
The funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, November 8, 2014 at Bible Baptist Church.
Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
